Game of Thrones Ascent is a strategy video game developed by Disruptor Beam for iPad, Facebook and Kongregate. The game was a 2013 Facebook Game of the Year in the Staff Picks category and a winner of a 2013 Frindie Award. The game is an adaptation of the novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin and the HBO TV series Game of Thrones, and is the first such social network game. According to Martin, the game will feature "alliance building, treachery, marriages, murders, and most of all the constant struggle to be the greatest house in Westeros." The game is expected to include the ability to engage in the dynamic political and social intrigue featured in the books and television show.
Disruptor Beam has also announced that Game of Thrones: Ascent is releasing on tablets in Q2 of 2014, saying it has "completely re-written the player interface" for touchscreens.
In the game, players take control of the head of a minor House in Westeros. As they engage in the story the choices they make affect the alignment of their character and thus how some characters will respond to them.
The player recruits characters referred to in the game as "Sworn Swords", that the player can send to complete Quests and Adventures.
Players also swear fealty to one of the Major Houses of Westeros; House Baratheon, House Greyjoy, House Lannister, House Stark, House Targaryen, House Tully, House Martell or House Tyrell.
